Strain – yet another award

Armchair Strain (design by Simon Morasi Piperčić) continues to amaze the public and keeps on adding the awards. After the Interior Innovation Award - Winner awarded by the German Design Council in 2015, and the Red Dot Design Award 2015, here comes another prize – Golden key winner from Belgrade Furniture Fair.

This year's Belgrade Furniture Fair has been very different from the previous ones – both conceptually and strategically – the event's redesign has been greatly appreciated by the exhibitors, designers and visitors for highly anticipated improved presentation and offer. The emphasis of the program was put on design oriented companies with a special highlight on foreign suppliers visits – as potential partners. In addition, the Golden key award form and logo have been redesigned, and the Expert Jury who awards the best designed furniture completed the whole impression, giving the entire event a brand new image and reputation.

The Golden key winner – Strain armchair gives the impression of extreme visual lightness, as a membrane stretched over a complex metal structure, whereas at the same time the elaborate combination of elastic bands support, backrest shape as well as seat cushions provide the comfort expected by a demanding contemporary user. Designer Simon Morasi Piperčić is an author of broad interest, ranging from industrial design and stage design to installations, etc. However, the key point in his work is precisely such meaningful and yet simple and creative design at the same time.
